I have been told to let you all know...

Jared will probably not be blogging until Monday. His mom is staying at his place right now ("WHY THE FUCK SHE CANT STAY WITH SHANNON ...IS BEYOND ME" lol), and she thinks he got rid of his blog. That's also why he hasn't blogged all week. So there you go.

ALSO!

Jared is up for PETA's World's Sexiest Vegetarian. So you should all vote for him HERE. You gotta scroll about half-way down before you get to him, but he's there. He's currently holding 2nd place in the men's category. Make sure you vote in the female category as well, or you will get the dreaded ERROR message. You can also vote as much as you want.

Ok, I'm done pimping Jared now. lol

Damnit!

I can't find my "A Beautiful Lie" CD! >.<

I got the deluxe edition not too long ago. I was going to give my other one to Chele because she told me the copy I burned for her has started skipping. So I go to look for it today so I can give it to her. Not in the case. Not in either CD player in my room (the deluxe edition is in one of them). Not in the CD player in my car. Not in the CD book I keep in my car. Not in the CD-ROM on the computer. Looked to see if I may have inadvertently put it in the deluxe edition case. Nope. I even checked my CD Walkman that I haven't used in forever. IT'S FUCKING GONE!

I actually just thought of one more place to look. I just don't feel like going back out to my car. I'll look tomorrow...

Edit: Found it! Now I feel stupid.

If I would, could you?

This version of this song randomly played on my iPod when I was on my walk this morning.
God, I loved Alice In Chains. They were the best out of all the grunge bands, as far as I'm concerned.

I miss you Mr. Staley. I pray your sweet, troubled soul is at peace.

I'm so glad this day is over

So about 5 minutes after I got to work this morning, my one co-worker that was supposed to work with me today called. She was "sick" and not coming in. I was so incredibly pissed. I went in the back room after I got off the phone with her and cussed up a storm for about 5 minutes. Then I gathered myself and went about my day. Chele came by around 1-ish, and I happened to not have any customers. So I locked the door, put a sign on the door saying I'd be back at 2, and we went to lunch. So it wasn't too horrible. I made some good money today, so it was pretty much worth it.

When I stopped at Starbucks before work, I saw this CD they were selling of all old-school punk/new wave music. It's got Joy Division, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Ramones, The Cure...all kinds of good shit. I had to get it. I'm listening to it now. It's pretty spiffy.

Tomorrow I am upgrading my phone. The one I have now is pretty lame. I plan on getting one with a camera. Go me. =]

Just another Sunday

I worked all day (that's 8 hours) at the salon by myself, because apparently no one wants to work holiday weekends. AND! Tomorrow, instead of working my normal 6 hours, I am working 9.

Happy fucking Memorial Day.

On a happier note: my friend TJ called me today. I happened to be in a lull between customers, so I was able to talk to him for a bit. TJ and I have known each other for about 12-13 years. He's a helicopter pilot in the Army and has done 2 tours in Iraq. He's currently stationed in Texas, but still has a lot of friends here on the East Coast including myself. Back in the day, before he met his now-ex-wife, whenever he and I were between relationships at the same time, we had a friends-with-benefits thing going on. He and his ex split this past December after 10 years of marriage. He came to visit in January. We hung out, but I was involved with Kai, so nothing happened. He's coming to visit again next month. This will be the first time in over 10 years we've both been single at the same time. This should prove to be interesting...

It's ok to love your car. Just don't LOVE your car.

Link to story

Like many men, Jordan Witham is obsessed with his car. But while most boy racers would draw the line at a wax and polish, his obsession has gone into overdrive.

The 20 year old is in love with his Volkswagen Beetle – and has been having sex with it for four years.

Despite never having kissed a girl before, virgin Jordan has become an experienced lover, covering his car with kisses and caresses before having penetrative sex with the exhaust pipe.

“I don’t fancy people,” says Jordan. “It’s cars that do it for me – I don’t want to marry or have kids.”

Jordan’s mum, Debbie, 53, doesn’t know about her son’s habit but his dad, David, 50, a door installer, does – and amazingly hasn’t tried to put the brakes on his relationship.

Jordan says: “When I told my dad I was sexually attracted to my car, he just said that there are lots of different people out there who are attracted to lots of different things.

“I’m not ready to tell Mum, though. She sees the world in a different way and is always asking me if I’ve found a nice girl.”

Jordan is one of just a handful of extreme car lovers in the world known as mechaphiles, and says his obsession was fuelled as a child.

He says: “I had hundreds of toy cars as a kid and often played in my dad’s Beetle. I used to talk to it, but I didn’t think it was odd as all my mates had imaginary friends.”

After Jordan passed his driving test at 16, he spent his £750 savings on his first car, a 1967 VW Beetle.

Jordan says: “I just knew she was a ‘girl’ car and I named her Ingo. She hadn’t worked in years, but as soon as I saw her, I had to have her.”

It was only while restoring Ingo that Jordan, who has never been attracted to women, realised his feelings were sexual.

“I could feel myself falling in love while I worked on Ingo,” he says. “I once became so aroused, I started rubbing her bodywork and masturbating. It didn’t feel strange, just really exciting.

“After a few minutes, I felt a desire to connect with her further, so I had penetrative sex with the exhaust pipe.”
Jordan began making love to his car a couple of times a week, while his parents were out. He recently moved out of their home to make it easier to carry on his relationship.

“I don’t always have sex with the car,” he explains. “Sometimes I stroke and kiss her bodywork, or rub myself up against her. If I’ve just been driving her, I have to wait for the exhaust pipe to cool down before I have sex. And I always use a condom because of all the dirt and dust inside.”

Jordan, who also masturbates while reading car magazines, has spent over £2,500 refurbishing Ingo. Most of Jordan’s earnings from his job stacking shelves at a supermarket are spent on her.

Now he has spent a further £200 on a “boy” car, a Trans Am he calls Todd, and is experimenting with a “gay” relationship.

Jordan says: “He’s very masculine. When I first bought him, I felt like I was cheating on Ingo, but now we all work well together.

“I have sex with Ingo more than Todd because Todd is kept in the driveway, not in the garage,” he explains. “I have to sneak outside in the middle of the night to have sex with him.”

Unsurprisingly, Jordan from Missouri, USA, describes himself as a bit of a loner – though he has now made friends with another mechaphile over the internet.

Jordan says: “I enjoy my life. If I end up an old man, living on my own with just my cars, I’ll be happy.”

Re. Spect. Walk.

I have Pantera stuck in my head.

Anyway...

I sat at work tonight for something like 2 1/2 hours doing jack shit. I'm thinking it's gonna be slow all night. Nope. I saw 3 of my regular customers tonight that I hadn't seen in ages.

The first one is in the Navy (I live in a Navy town). He had been at sea for a few months. I think I last saw him in January.

The next one is a dude I wasn't sure I'd ever see again even though I've been cutting his hair for like, 3-4 years. We ran into each other last December at an "adult store." I mean, we almost literally ran into each other. He was coming out the door as I was going in. It was a bit awkward, to say the least. I hadn't seen him since until tonight. It wasn't mentioned. Turns out his work schedule and mine hadn't meshed with each others for the last few months, so he'd been coming in for his haircuts when I wasn't there. That was the story he gave me anyway.(lol) He tipped me $9 for his haircut. Awesome.

The third one was a woman I give highlights to every 6 months or so. I spent about 2 1/2 hours highlighting, cutting and blow drying her hair. It came out great. She tipped me $25. I rule.

I was going to write a long rant about people not checking their email after they specifically ask you to email them. *cough-Shannon-cough* But I decided against it. Shit happens. People get busy. It's all good. lol

Busy ass day

So I got to work, and my boss was there. It was slow at the time, so she had me re-stocking and cleaning the retail shelves. Cleaning the retail shelves is probably my most hated job at work. The shelves are glass, so you have to take down ALL the product, clean the glass, then put ALL the product back up. It's not like it's hard. It's just tedious. Took me about an hour and a half to complete my section.

As soon as the boss leaves for the day and I'm there by myself, I start getting customers. It was pretty much non-stop for the rest of the night. I've been doing hair for a long time, so I cut pretty fast. I was rolling them right in and out. Tips were awesome tonight too.

I didn't get to take a break, so of course, I'm starving after work. So after I get the shop closed up and head out, I ended up going to the bad place...

McDonalds.

Mmmmm cheeseburger.

For like...forEVER!

I really don't have anything to blog about because I've been off work the last 2 days. Not much has been going on.

So I decided to post this video, because it never fails to crack me up.

I still say that Jared is the best storyteller ever.

Sleeplessness and inventory

I probably had about 4 hours of sleep last night. I turned my light out around midnight. Woke up around 1:30. Tossed and turned for a good hour-hour and a half. Woke up again at 5:30. My alarm went off at 6. It was not going to be a fun day.

So we had to do inventory at the shop today. It was just me and my boss because no one else could (wanted to) make it. We actually got it done pretty fast because we've both done it about a billion times. But I had to recount a few things due to lack of sleep. I was transposing numbers and all that fun shit. But I got it done and was even able to get a lunch break. I had a roast beef sandwich, Cheetos Puffs and blue Gatorade. Blue Gatorade is the shit, btw.

I'd love to take a nap, but it's 6pm. I'd be up uber-late tonight. I have to go with mom in the morning to get her car serviced so I can drive her home after she drops it off.

Shannon should do that tattoo survey I did a few days ago.

So get to it Shannon!

Turn signals...

People really need to use them. Like every time they have to turn their vehicle. Or change lanes. Preferably before they hit their brakes. I don't understand why some people seem to think that's so difficult.

Starbucks mint mocha chip frappuccino is like sex in a cup. I'm not kidding.

I saw written on a bathroom wall today "Tori is a stupit cunt." Isn't irony great?

Got ink?

Tell us about your tattoos, if you have them.

Yes, I'm bored.

1. Have you ever cried during a tattoo?
Nope. I'm not quite that much of a wuss.

2. When did you get your first tattoo?
When I was 20

3. What was your first tattoo?
A small black heart on my upper right arm. It was a homemade one.

4. Which tattoo is closest to your heart?
Literally, the heart on my left breast. Emotionally, the above mentioned homemade one. My friend that did it was killed a year later by a drunk driver.

5. Do you have a matching tattoo with someone?
Nope. My ex-husband and I talked bout doing that. We never got around to it.

6. Do you have a tattoo that someone messed up on?
Nah. A couple need touch-ups though.

7. Do you have anyone's name tattooed on you?
Hell no. The only was I would ever get another human being's name tattooed on me would be if I gave birth to that human being.

8. What was the most painful tattoo you received?
The dreamcatcher on my shoulderblade killed. Lots of tiny little lines.

9. How many tattoos do you have?
Five

10. Do you plan on being heavily or moderately tattooed?
I'm thinking about getting one more. Then I'm done.

11. Do you have a tattoo that you constantly have to explain?
People always ask me what the one on my left wrist is, because it's the only one that's always visible.

12. Have you ever gotten an infection from a tattoo?
Nope

13. What is the longest session you've ever sat straight?
45 minutes. None of mine are big.

14. What is the biggest tattoo that you have and how long did it take?
That would be the dreamcatcher that took 45 minutes.

15. Did you tell your parents?
My mom knows about them, sure. But I'm grown so it doesn't matter.

16. Do you regret having gotten any of your tattoos?
Nope

17. Would you consider ever getting any of your tattoos removed?
Nope. They're all significant to me in some way.

18. What are you going to get for your next tattoo?
Possibly a pentacle on the back of my neck.

19. Do you think members of the opposite sex with a lot of tattoos are hot?
Define "a lot." Tattoos are hot. I like sleeves. But I wouldn't want to be with someone covered in them.

20. Are you unfortunate to have an arm band tattoo?
LOL nope

21. How many people have tattooed you?
Three

22. Do any of your tattoos have color?
Yes

For Whom The Bell Tolls

I've decided that whenever I can't think of a title, I'm just going to use the title of whatever song is stuck in my head. There's always something there.

Grown men should never wear Crocs. Ever. It looks stupid. I understand they're uber-comfortable. I have a pair myself. But I'm a chick. So if you HAVE to wear them, at least wear black ones. Hell, even mine are black.

I dropped my eyeliner applicator when I was getting ready for work today. I now have black eyeliner smeared on my cell phone case. I wear liquid, btw...it won't come off.

I hate it when my mom interrupts me when I'm blogging. I totally lost my train of thought...grr.

A girl I used to work with called me at work tonight. She had a customer in the shop where she's working now, and she'd just done the woman's color. The woman wanted her hair cut in a heavily textured inverted bob. My ex-co-worker it not terribly good with razor cutting, or with inverted bobs. So she called me up and asked if she could send this lady to me, because she knew I could do the cut and do it well. I thought that was pretty awesome of her. Then the lady never showed up...oh well.

And now for your regularly scheduled blog

I forgot to take a lunch (dinner) break at work tonight. I last ate about 11:00am. It's now 10:44pm. I'm fucking hungry! I'll eat something in a bit.

I was going to type somthing else but I got distracted and forgot. Damn....

OH!

I talked to Chele for a while tonight. She came by the salon after she got off work. She hung out for about an hour. We hadn't really talked since the night of the MSI show, so it was nice. She was telling me about her boyfriend's crazy ex-wife. I mean "crazy" literally. She spent time in TPI (Tidewater Psychiatric Institute) recently. He's got custody of their 3 kids. I've give Chele loads of props though. She's really hanging in and standing by her man. His kids love her. And I got her all caught up on all the stuff recently with Terry and Kai and...other stuff. It was very enjoyable.

Jared made me....

He had explanations for his answers. I won't. Unless I steal his.

Would you rather:

Eat a can of cat food -or- eat 7 whole lemons (seeds, pulp, juice, and rind)?
Lemons, definitely.

Have one child who is totally out of control -or- 9 children who are well behaved angels?
One out of control child would probably be easier to handle than 9 in the long run.

Have an attractive spouse with a hideously annoying laugh -or- an attractive spouse who is a really bad dresser?
I'll take the bad dresser. I could always shop for him.

Without ever being able to wash them, be forced to forever use the same bath towel -or- sleep in the same sheets?
Sleep in the same sheets.

Publicly mud wrestle your spouse -or- a stranger?
stranger, providing it was a hot stranger. <--- keeper

Wake up one day and not recognize your friends and family -or- wake up one day and have them not recognize you?
Me not recognize them.

Have very, very smelly underarm sweat -or- non-odorous underarm sweat that nonetheless causes terrible stains on all your clothes?
I'll take the stains. They can wash out

Have one thick, furry eyebrow across your entire forehead -or- an inordinate amount of ear and nose hair that cannot be removed?
uni-brow, i have nothing against getting waxed. <--- yup

Have all your friends be smarter than you -or- have all your friends be much better looking than you?
A lot of my friends ARE smarter than me. I'm handling it well. lol

As a 25 year old, forget your entire childhood up to age 15 -or- lose your memory of the last 5 years?
I don't remember much of my childhood anyway, so it wouldn't be that big a loss.

As a groom, forget the ring -or- be one hour late for your wedding?
A ring can be replaced. Punctuality is forever.

Be offensive -or- incredibly passive?
Being offensive is alot of fun. <--- lol yup

Share your home with 6 90 year old men and 6 90 year old women -or- 2 ostriches?
I like ostriches

Get free gas for your car or the next 5 years -or- be exempt from speeding tickets for the rest of your life?
Free gas, no question

Have the power to read minds -or- the power to make anyone fall in love with you?
Hmm...that's a tough one really. I'm not sure I'd want to know what's on everyone's minds. It would probably freak me out. I'll take the love.

Spend every minute for the rest of your life indoors -or- outdoors?
Indoors. I'm too spoiled lol

Hang upside down suspended from the Eiffel Tower by a nylon cord -or- be strapped to the wing of a flying airplane with only duct tape?
I'd hang on the Eiffel Tower

Be 6 feet tall and ugly -or- 3 feet tall and beautiful?
6 feet tall and ugly I guess.

Be stranded on an island for 2 years with 20 friends -or- with a group of 20 famous people of your choosing?
Friends, for sure.

Be stuck in a warm, dark place -or- a cold, light place?
warm and dark, that way if im stuck, i could at least sleep. <--- yup

Have a photo place always lose your photos -or- have the airlines always lose your luggage?
Photo place. And I'm with Jared...people still use those?

Today's song stuck in my head is:

Crazy Bitch by Buckcherry.

I'm currently recharging my iPod. How exciting.

I really don't have much of anything to write about right now. I'm just bored.

Mmmm goods...

I have no title...

...because I can't think of one.

I talked to Terry for a while a couple of nights ago. We hadn't really talked in ages. It was really nice. He's got a girlfriend and he's really happy with her. He said he learned a lot from our relationship and what not to do. We both did. I think there's been enough space between us and enough time that we might actually be able to be friends now. I've missed that. He's a good dude.

And yesterday I talked to Kai. He told me about this girl he's apparently falling for. I know what you're all thinking. I was thinking it too. So I called him on it. He swore to me that he was being 100% truthful with me this time because he values our friendship and stills feels bad about what he put me through before. So...I believe him. I asked him if she felt the same way. He said she does. It did upset me, but nearly as bad as before. Partly because I had my mind on other things. But also because I know it's time to move on. It's passed time to move on, in fact. So that's what I'm doing.

I also called my auto insurance agent yesterday because my rates had gone up. Now they're lower than before the rate increase. W00T!

I was going to blog yesterday

...but I forgot. And now I don't remember what I was going to write about. Go me.

Last night I was texting Jade, and we started talking about Prince. We're both old-school Prince fans, even though she's really too young to remember when he was in his heyday. After that conversation, I decided to buy "1999" from iTunes. I have it on vinyl, but I don't have a record player. I have a lot of shit on vinyl, because I am a pack-rat. But I digress. After I downloaded it, I put it on my iPod. I was listening to it on my walk this morning. I forgot what an awesome album it was. Took me right back to when I was 14...

I know there was other stuff I was going to write about. I'm sure I'll remember later...

For Jared

I found this the other day, and it made me think of you. =]
Haha

My thumb is better!

Late last night, I just sucked it up and dug out that ingrown nail. Hurt like a motherfucker. Then I put some neosporin and a band-aid on it and went to bed. When I got up this morning, it was still a tiny bit swollen and a little sore, but much better. I was able to work without being in tons of pain. And I can use it for the spacebar again. You wouldn't believe how awkward that was.

My mom is the easiest person to shop for ever. Mother's Day, her birthday, Christmas, whatever, she tells me exactly what she wants, and I get it for her. This year for Mother's Day, she wanted a new curling iron. So I got her a very nice, professional-grade ceramic iron. I also got her a dozen roses, because she is the best mom in the world. <3

*insert generic title here*

I did a haircolor at work today and didn't wear gloves. I don't like wearing gloves. I can't feel what I'm doing. I now have color stains on my hands. They'll be gone in a day or two.

My thumb is about the same as it was earlier today. I had to use my older shears at work though, because it has a bigger thumb hole. My thumb is too swelled up to use my newer shears comfortably. My mom said if it's not better by Tuesday, I should see a Dr. Oh joy...

When I was counting the cash drawer tonight, I saw someone had put two $2 bills in there. I hadn't seen one of those in years.

I am awesome, but in pain

I won this Dooney & Burke bag at work for selling the most retail in our district (8 salons) for the month of March. I rule.

My first day back at work was pretty uneventful other than recieving the bag. It wasn't terribly slow though.

My thumb still hurts. I just took some ibuprofin. Hopefully that will help with the pain and the swelling. I never realized how much I use my right thumb at work until today. I'm also using my right index finger to hit the spacebar as I type. It feels very awkward. I've had to fix many typos in this post.

There goes another one...

*sigh*

Back to work tomorrow. After 5 days off. A few more days would have been nice.

I seem to have an ingrown thumbnail or something. Hurts like a bitch when I hit the spacebar. Ow..

Jared keeps misspelling my name. He's transposing the y and the l. That seems ot be the most common misspelling of my name. Sorry Jay, just had to point that out. lol

My favorite got voted off American Idol last night. Oh well...

Ow, my thumb...

I just had to edit this because I misspelled "misspelling." I'm a fucking genius, I'm telling you.

I like my coffee black just like my metal

I am doing this because I am bored and I have nothing better or more interesting to write about.

In the tag, you write your memoir in six words or a title or something like that. Mine would be:

I shall tag:

It's A Wonderful Lie
The Legend Of Zen
Chaotic Pantheon (even though Scargosun already tagged him)

Blah blah blah....

So I'm washing my bedroom curtains. Not a big deal. I just hate having to put them back up. I have 2 floor-length curtains and a valance. It's a huge pain in the ass. I also have to vacuum this afternoon. Joy...

My 4-years-unemployed friend got a job. WOOT!! So more listening to her bitch and moan about boredom and lack of money.

I don't think I've gone a single day this week without going to the store for something. Either me or my mom always thinks of something else one of us needs. I went this morning. I have to go again this afternoon because I forgot something.

*sigh*

Last night's show, and a few words about concert etiquitte

The concert last night was awesome.

I never caught the name of the first band. They were onstage already when we got there. I liked them though.

I really liked Birthday Massacre. I knew of them, but I wasn't familiar with their music at all. I'm gonna have to check out some of their stuff.

Let me take a moment to talk about concert etiquette. If you're 6'4" do not stand directly in front of someone who is 5'4". That's just fucking rude. If you see someone has a really good spot, do not push them out of the way so YOU can have the really good spot. If you have to run out of the pit for some reason, try not to fall on people. And lastly, there's a lot to be said about using the words "excuse me" if you're trying to get to the middle of the pit from the outside.

Enough about rude scene kids.

Mindless Self Indulgence were just awesome. Jimmy Urine has so much freaking energy onstage. He just doesn't stop moving. That's probably why he's so skinny. He really needs to eat a sandwich or something. He went through various stages of undress while fucking with people in the audience and waxing poetic about the beauty of Robitussin. If his pants had been any lower, no doubt we all would have seen Little Jimmy. I'll admit, I find him oddly sexy. Emphasis on the word "oddly."

I was searching youtube for videos from the show, because plenty of people were recording. But apparently no one's uploaded anything yet.

Here's the setlist:

Shut Me Up
Mastermind
Lights Out
Stupid MF
Issues
1989
Never Wanted To Dance
Prescription
Revenge
Animal
Tornado
Pay For It
Faggot
Capital P
Evening Wear
Bitches
What Do They Know
Planet Of The Apes

I am going to see Mindless Self Indulgence.

I'm stoked. I've only been into them since last summer when I saw them on the Projekt Revolution tour. They kick ass live. I'm sure I'll blog about it tomorrow.

People in Virginia Beach can not drive

On my way home from work tonight, I get behind this car in a right turn lane. The dude (I'm assuming it was a dude) stops at the light. The light turns green. The dude just sits there. I give him about 10 seconds, then I honk. Still doesn't move. 5 more seconds. I lay on the horn. The dude has the nerve to give ME the finger before taking off.

A bit later when I turn into my neighborhood, there's a truck behind me, so fucking close I can't see the headlights. I was tempted to brake-check the asshole, but I like my car. I don't want to speed up because I got a speeding ticket on that street a year and a half ago, so I wasn't about to go over 30mph. He stayed right on top of me until I turned onto my street. Jeeze...if you're gonna ride my ass, at least pull my hair...

Meh...

Nothing terribly interesting going on today so far. Found out yesterday a girl I work with needs surgery. I think she said it's scheduled for the 13th. She'll be out for about a month. We're so short-handed at work as it is, it's gonna be tough being one person down. I really hope she's going to be alright though.

My iPod froze up on me half-way through my walk this morning. Pissed me off. It'd never done that before, so I didn't know how to fix it. So I took the rest of my walk in silence. I HATE that. Of course when I got home I looked up the troubleshooting online and found out how to reset it. So now it's all good.

I just had a salad for lunch. Lettuce, carrots, cheese, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, green olives and croutons with extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar. Delicious.

I also got one of those Twitter accounts. It's pretty spiffy.

2 more days of work, then I'm off for 5 days. I need a break before my head explodes.

Blessed Beltane

Beltane has long been celebrated with feasts and rituals. Beltane means fire of Bel; Belinos being one name for the Sun God, whose coronation feast we now celebrate. As summer begins, weather becomes warmer, and the plant world blossoms, an exuberant mood prevails. In old Celtic traditions it was a time of unabashed sexuality and promiscuity where marriages of a year and a day could be undertaken but it is rarely observed in that manner in modern times.

In the old Celtic times, young people would spend the entire night in the woods "A-Maying," and then dance around the phallic Maypole the next morning. Older married couples were allowed to remove their wedding rings (and the restrictions they imply) for this one night. May morning is a magickal time for wild water (dew, flowing streams, and springs) which is collected and used to bathe in for beauty, or to drink for health.

The Christian religion had only a poor substitute for the life-affirming Maypole -- namely, the death-affirming cross. Hence, in the Christian calendar, this was celebrated as 'Roodmas'. In Germany, it was the feast of Saint Walpurga, or 'Walpurgisnacht'. An alternative date around May 5 (Old Beltane), when the sun reaches 15 degrees Taurus, is sometimes employed by Covens. (Both 'Lady Day' and 'Ostara' are names incorrectly assigned to this holiday by some modern traditions of Wicca.)

Think of the May pole as a focal point of the old English village rituals. Many people would rise at the first light of dawn to go outdoors and gather flowers and branches to decorate their homes. Women traditionally would braid flowers into their hair. Men and women alike would decorate their bodies. Beltane marks the return of vitality, of passion. Ancient Pagan traditions say that Beltane marks the emergence of the young God into manhood. Stirred by the energies at work in nature, he desires the Goddess. They fall in love, lie among the grasses and blossoms, and unite. The Goddess becomes pregnant of the God. To celebrate, a wedding feast, for the God and Goddess must be prepared. Let Them guide you! Breads and cereals are popular. Try oatmeal cakes or cookies sweetened with a dab of honey. Dairy foods are again appropriate...just make a lovely wedding feast and you are sure to enjoy yourself! An early morning walk through a local park or forest could be fun for everyone. Gather up some plants or flowers to display in your home. Mom and daughter could braid their hair, and weave in a few tender blossoms.
